Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the group reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
