'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range effort from 25 yards, and the defender promptly converted the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to celebrate, with supporters mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an incredible turnaround given the team had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. In the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win earned a fourth-round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's volley from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who complimented the way the underdogs approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the basics and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they understand how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert every second of the game. It takes a tough attitude and focus just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in south Wales. At Orient he reunited with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division Salford City, before he departed his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without real physicality. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that development for his team and nation, shining for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including both legs fixtures against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

It has been quite the ride for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his father, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to temperatures of -15C. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he comments, smiling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a minibus driven by academy staff, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include a teammate, another squad member, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm planning to be the next one to drive independently and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on public transport after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
