Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on court had led commentators to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 initial break points in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
